Question:
Please answer the question that reflects the direction you are taking based on your choices.
- Provide a brief rundown of the personality and history of the character in question, making sure to explain where major personality traits came from, and to include those traits you think qualify the character as the Medicine Cat.
- Describe how you plan to take up the mantel of this existing character and why you would be a good choice to play them going forward.
Response:
My proposal character will likely be a tom known as Nightwatcher, or something with the Night prefix (SUBJECT TO CHANGE). This cat will be old and slightly cranky with a caring heart buried deep down. He will have failing eyesight gained from his old age.
Key personality aspects will involve him being not much of a talker, often blunt with his responses and preferring a quick efficient conversation over a long and unnecessary one. Nightwatcher is very level headed, and doesn’t often get stressed, even in dire circumstances, which is what makes him so suited to the role of a medicine cat. He can be a little negative at times, but that doesn’t mean he won’t stop trying, being one to never give up on a dying cat even if they seem like they are on their last breath. He is also grumpy, often snapping at warriors so curious or chasing unwanted visitors from his den. In his eyes, he has been alive for too long, and even the most minor inconvenience pisses him off. He sometimes comes off a little harsh, especially to the younger of the clan, but his heart is in a good place, for he wants nothing more than for ShadowClan to thrive in good health. This means that if giving a young cat a harsh lesson is the way to go, he will do it with no question. Despite this rough exterior, Nightwatcher is able to recognise when a softer heart is needed, and is able to provide different types of care to his clanmates whether is be physical healing or someone to confide in.
Nightwatcher will make a good medicine cat for ShadowClan due to his determined and unforgiving personality. He has moons of experience and wisdom that many cats do not have. Just don’t do anything stupid near him and you should be greeted with a friendly grumble.

The two apprentices snarled at each other in anger, the fur on their necks raised and their tails fluffed up like bottle brushes. As they circled, they spat insults back and forth. “Unreasonable mousebrained fool!” the gray tabby tom called Shadowpaw hissed. “I don’t understand why you just won’t leave me alone!”
“You’re the one who got us in trouble!” The speaker spitting this insult was the long-haired half brother of Shadowpaw known as Greypaw. The two were born to different Queens around the same time, but both by the same tom, named Fogpelt. This had led to the two kits echoing their individual mother’s competitive pushes for their kit to outperform the other. “Leafclaw was hunting with BOTH of us. It’s because of your incompetence that we have to tend the Elders’ ticks!”
Response:
Nightwatcher had been busily sorting through herbs in his den, grateful for a moment of peace and quiet before he heard the noisy voices of apprentices outside his den. Muttering a curse under his breath he slowly got up, his muscles aching a little as he did so, but still capable of moving freely. ‘What is all this ruckus outside my den? It’s hurting my ears’ he spat, coming out of his den to be greeted with two snarling apprentices. Of course, Shadowpaw and Greypaw. Non stop competing to be the better sibling. Nightwatcher had enough. ‘If you want to fight, go somewhere else, but just know I don’t treat the wounds of petty apprentices. You’re taking moons from my lifespan just being here. Hurry along and settle down before I bring Fogpelt over here and show him just how dissapointing his children are. Go and do something useful for the clan or i’ll make you tend to my ticks as well. There is plenty in there for you’ Nightwatcher growled, though in a not entirely threatening tone. It was normal for siblings to fight but stats were these two particularly annoying. As the medicine cat of ShadowClan, he knew it was his role to do some sort of mediating between the two, but he was too old for such nonsense. If they were still fighting by nightfall he then might step in. For now, he would retreat back to his den and hoped he had scared them quiet, even for just a little while.

Leafclaw had been feeling unwell, and coughed as she approached the Medicine Cat’s den. Once greetings had been handled, she began in a somewhat weak voice. “Yesterday I was okay, but it rained again. Today I can hardly breath through my nose and I’ve been…” she didn’t finish the statement, but it seemed that her illness intended to speak for itself has the deep chested hacking that erupted from the lithe she-cat must have been what she had been about to refer to.
Response:
Nightwatcher sighed as Leafclaw entered his den. Not surprised at the complaint. Symptoms like these were common at the moment, especially with all the rainfall. ‘Yes, yes, I can see from just your appearance you are unwell. Get over here and rest before Palestar commends you an elder. Stars you look awful Leafclaw. Next time, come to me as soon as something seems off.’ he grumbled slowly making his way over to the lithe warrior.
Once he got Leafclaw properly settle and inside, he began his usual check in routine. Her physical status was pretty normal, other than her hacking cough and blocked nose. Mentally she seemed fine as well. ‘When you cough, does it feel like you are coughing up anything? Or more just coughing because your body tells you to?‘ To him the cough sounded quite dry, but it was always better to double check. ‘No blood?; And with your breathing, is it just your nose making it harder, or something relating to your lungs as well?’ For now he could assume this was a simple case of whitecough, for it had been running around camp. While not usually deadly, he would still need to keep an eye on her it case it took a turn for the worse.
Before even waiting for her response he turned over to his herb supply, nosing his way towards some Colt’s foot leaves, pushing them towards her and ordering her to chew. If her throat hurt he could give her a little honey, but until he could determine exactly what was going on, he would leave the other herbs alone, as they were either not needed or low in stock, only to be used for serious cases.

Just had a look at the bans list and realised toms are banned but I have too many female characters so If for whatever reason this proposal does get accepted I would only like to play him if he is male 👍 sorry
