Question:
Provide a brief rundown of the personality and history of the character in question, making sure to explain where major personality traits came from, and to include those traits you think qualify the character as the next deputy.
Response:
Coldgaze is a cat who is deeply ingrained in the traditions of the clan, and despite his personality works his hardest to keep the clan tight knit and safe. He walks the fine line of having a strong sense of justice – not allowing those who do not know better to be bullied or harassed – and having a no-nonsense outlook on the warrior code, to the extent that he is willing to fight those who have broken and continue to break the code.
Coldgaze is also not afraid of authority. He will speak his mind to Boldstar and doesn’t always agree with the leader’s decisions. Yet even if he wouldn’t have made the same choices, he upholds Boldstar’s decrees to the best of his ability and supports his leader. He understands that when he has voiced his opinion, Boldstar has taken what he said into account – and if he still chose to continue with the course of action there is something that Coldgaze hadn’t considered. Perhaps out of the clan’s eyes he would ask the leader for further clarification – but in their eyes he is 100 percent behind Boldstar once a decision has been made.
Coldgaze’s flaw is his fear of the unknown; something that will continue to harass him. He is afraid of the other clans to some extent – but he is even more afraid of loners and rouges; creatures who have unknown motives and actions. The recent string of deaths have set his fur on end – especially since cats that he had a connection to have been ‘targeted’.

The young apprentice Ratpaw shrunk back, fur sucked tight to her body in fear as she cowered in front of her mentor, eyes wide with fear as she almost disappeared in the massive tom’s shadow.
”The Clan comes first!” Goldstripe hissed lowly, his already massive cream tabby pelt raised in anger. ”The elders saw you take the last bird, before they’d been fed. Have you no respect for those who devoted their lives to ensuring you had a place to live, to hunt, to be born?!” the apprentice’s mentor, an older warrior, growled, fangs bared menacingly. The apprentice, promoted just a moon ago, seemed on the verge of fainting, her whole body trembling.
Response:
Coldgaze had been watching the apprentice Ratpaw for a while now. She wasn’t a bad apprentice – just still very young and used to the soft life of the nursery. This wasn’t her first mistake and it certainly wouldn’t be her last. That, and Goldstripe was a traditionalist, just like him – albeit not Coldgaze’s first choice for a mentor. This whole situation was a perfect storm. He huffed out a breath of frustration before leaping down from his favourite perch and putting himself between the mentor and apprentice.
“That is enough.” His mismatched eyes scrutinized the older cat. It had been a while since he had spoken out loud – but thankfully his voice still held the same authority. “Goldstripe. It is your duty to mentor your apprentice.” His tail flicked in irritation. “This is your chance to teach. Not chastise and harass.”
He wasn’t about to let Ratpaw get away with this either, but she wasn’t the problem at this moment. Goldstripe was old enough to know better – and know that if he wanted traditions to be retained, he had to find a way to teach them that wasn’t through fear.

Write an in character post in for the following situation as the character you are applying with.
- Your character is out on a lone hunt and spots an intruder. The cat isn’t of any of the clans, and is not one that [CHARACTER] has seen before. Even the cat’s scent is foreign with lean muscles rippling beneath a ragged and scarred pelt. He dosen’t appear to be either hostile or stealing prey, simply exploring.

overhead, and they made him feel a little less alone. It was almost like Duckfeather or Splashpelt was with him again… and perhaps they were.
Yet his perfect night was destroyed by a rouge wandering the clan territory. Coldgaze could feel his chest tense as he watched the scarred tom wander a few steps from his hiding spot in a fallen log. What would happen if it made it to the camp – following Coldgaze’s scent? As the loner wandered closer, Coldgaze tensed – before throwing himself at his opponent with a cry.
This was the way it was. The world wanted to take everything from him– and so he would do everything in his power to keep his family safe.
- I would love for Coldgaze to have a close connection to the Med. Cat; he is very respectful of their power and even before he became a warrior would often go to ask Whisperingdove and Willowpaw for their opinions on his thoughts.
- I also want Coldgaze to have a weirdly strong connection to starclan for an average warrior. This doesn’t have to play any major roles – but he is very spiritual and considers them to be close allies.
