Sunstrike was going, and at least she seemed happy about it. Wrentalon knew she had to still be feeling nervous somehow underneath her face--it always seemed she was. "Here's hoping," he echoed, nodding. "I doubt anything interesting will happen here while you're all gone. I suppose Savagefox and I will keep an eye on things, though." He gave a sidelong glance at the orange cat, who seemed to be teaching the orphaned kit to hunt stones. "Good luck on your end."

Her name being called was suprising. She had wanted to go - truely! But her stomache sank at the idea of something going wrong.

Either way, she padded to Wrentalon before gathering near the entrance and tried to keep a smile on hee face."My turn. Here's hoping for peace and quiet."

Ah, his niece was on her way. Not suprising for an elder as spry as her - but it was a pity that Quailcall always seemed to be stuck in camp. And a pity Moosestar didn't see the benefit to bringing him along!

He settled back into his nest, thinking of the advice he would give to Brindlepaw - or whoever finished Sunstrike's chores. Clearly, they should be grateful for his words, even of they were never in short supply.

Savagefox huffed a laugh at Coyotekit’s startle, then watched the kittens attempt with a serious look. ”Much improved. We’ll have you hunting RiverClanners on Sunningrocks in no time.”

They straightened at Bravesong’s input, looking at the crippled warrior with interest. ”Beetles are boring. Once you’ve caught a few of them I’ll bring you a mouse to practice on!” The red cat declared with finality, then hooked a paw around the pebble and sent it up in the air with a little twist of their wrist.

While Larchpaw was disappointed she did not get to go, it was not the worst thing to happen so she wasn't upset. It did irritate her that Dovepaw got to go though. Why was she any better than her? At least Brindlepaw was stuck back at camp as well. While she was a little annoyed, she was soon distracted by Coyotekit and her attempts at crouching. A small smile formed, and she couldn't help but think maybe it wouldn't be so bad staying back, especially if she could have some fun with her clanmates.

The mauve kit straightened at the praise, unable to contain the excitement that she did good. She puffed her chest out with pride as she beamed. "I'm going to become the sneakiest cat around! No beetles will be able to see me coming!" She declared and crouched back down, batting at a rock that was unfortunate enough to be within paws reach. Coyotekit descended upon the unlucky pebble, forgetting the warrior business that was taking place around her in favor of the tumbling she could illicit with each whack.

Mistyleaf had observed the meeting and whatever other commotion occurred from near her current post at the Gorse Tunnel entrance. Guard duty was a perfectly fine way to spend the night. Dovepaw going to Fourtrees without her would be good. It gave her more time to think of their next lesson. Watching Bravesong and Coyotekit gladdened her too. If she saw any beetles tonight, she'd have to let them know.

It was no surprise that Bravesong wouldn't attend the Gathering. He had long given up trying to break his body trying to accommodate the long journey, and instead was looking forward to a nice night of lessons for Coyotekit. While he scented her leaving the nursery, he missed her as she tottled passed his bad eye. It felt as if she was only gone a moment before his head turned at her voice, seeing Coyotekit on the ground trying to mimic Savagefox's hunting crouch. Tiptoeing softly up towards her, he lowered himself down, a pitiful excuse for a crouch while he obviously favored his twisted paw, still, he wanted to keep a wary eye on the ginger and white warrior knowing full well that keeping Savagefox's attention probably wasn't something that Coyotekit should aspire to. "That's very good, Coyotekit. Maybe we can practice on some beetles soon."

The young cat was startled by Savagefox's skilled approach, bouncing to the side a pawsteps length away as if to flee from potential danger. The fur along her spine had fluffed up from the scare but slowly fell flat onto her back upon seeing that there was no immediate risk of death, only the grumpy ginger warrior.

Coyotekit stares at them for a few silent blinks before crouching down to imitate their form. It is an improvement, though that doesn't mean much when anything could have been an improvement. Still, she meets their green eyes in search of approval. "Like this, then?"

Moosestar, clearing his throat a bit, glanced amongst the cats, subconsciously choosing which before looking forwards, into the central mass of warriors. Yes, he felt like a fool at the gathering, and that was one thing. However, it certainly was another to feel like a fool in front of the critical eyes of his clanmates..

"The Gathering is tonight, so I must choose which cats will be joining me." He announced, lowering his brows a bit at Wildcry's display.

"Beyond Kestrelswipe and Tigerrush, I choose Sunstrike, Wildcry, and Dovepaw to join me to the Gathering. Wrentalon and Savagefox, I trust you both to ensure the camp is well guarded tonight."

With a sweep of the crowd with his eyes, he last spoke; "Finish up your last minute assignments and errands, for we leave just before moonhigh."

Savagefox had been prowling the edges of the camp when the meeting was called. Why under StarClan did Moosestar do things he clearly didn’t enjoy? Savagefox avoided the things they didn’t enjoy and the policy served them well all the time!

Then a flash of taupe fur caught their eye. Instant, sharp focus came to Savagefox as they watched Coyotekit toddle towards the gathering crowd of cats. Savagefox took up a proper stalk, high style but precise as they came alongside the kit.

”Bend your hocks more and sink your chest to the ground. Tail low. Head low.” They whispered to the kit, sinking into the pose described for a few steps. ”Then they’ll never catch you.”
