Adoption - Pipertuft and Gingerthrash

While i really enjoy RPing with everyone, having Pipertuft as a cat has been kindof a drain on me not just because I'm not as familiar with Medicine Cats. I think I can handle only having a single ranked cat at the moment with m job and real-life commitments.

I am putting Piper up for adoption soon, but I thought this would be a good heads up to anyone in Windclan or who wants to play a full fledged (albeit young) Medicine Cat. She doesn't have too much set-in-stone personality traits yet and is pretty much a blank canvas.

Same can be said for Gingerthrash. I love his name, design and personality but at the moment I can't give this grumpy elder the love and attention he deserves. He would be super fun to play - especially with his mate now being created (Cherry), and kin having litters of their own.

I would say that these characters likely warrant their own profiles, simply for the fact that they can be used as lineage characters - like the 'Parent Pool' - although more like a lineage pool. I know I want to make Coldgaze related distantly to cats in Riverclan.

I can sift through and find cats that are important from the remaining NPCs, the leaders, Deputies and MC are obviously important.

In the Warrior cat's world, direction is everything: direction from StarClan, Leader direction, and more! But, what about compass direction? Do cats understand the same concepts as humans when it comes to North, South, East, and West? That's what we want to discuss today!

The initial thought is that cats would not have this type of knowledge and would instead have names that correspond with nature of the clans themselves: IE "Sunlive"/"ThunderWise" and "Sunfall"/"WindWise". I'd love to hear others input and ideas on this matter!

The Animal Omens are almost done, but we have a handful more that still need 2-3 words assigned to each that they represent as an omen. You can view the existing omens (and cannot duplicate ones we've already used) HERE.

What we're going to do is discuss them one at a time in this thread, and slowly build the list.

First animal up for an omen word list is Lemming. In game the Lemming's human species is Southern Bog Lemming. In accordance I suggest the word Bog be one of the 2-3 we select for lemming. Any other thoughts and suggestions?

Bedside Manner MCA Training

I just finished drafting out the document about Bedside Banner for the Beginner Level of Medicine Cat Training. I'd love comments and thoughts on it if you feel like something is overlooked, written unclearly, or otherwise needs changing.

Bedside manner is a critical part of the process of treating a patient. If the Medicine Cat cannot inspire confidence in the patient instructions will not be followed and treatment will be rendered less effective.

The following tips are suggested to be followed while dealing with patients:

Calm: It is recommended that a Medicine Cat conduct themselves calmly. Even in an emergency a sense of calm is required even as a cat works quickly to do their work. If a Medicine Cat appears panicked then the patient will quickly join them in that emotion.
Firm: A Medicine Cat must be firm enough for it to be understood that the instructions they give are not optional and must be followed to the letter. Wavering can lead to cats deciding that it’s not worth eating a foul tasting medicine or resting as long as recovery requires.
Confident: A Medicine Cat must be confident in the treatments they give and trust in the training they have received from their Mentor. Failure to display confidence will lead to the lack of confidence in the medicine cat. Without confidence medicines can loose effectiveness and patients can fair to recover.
Honest: It is unwise for a medicine cat to lie to their patients. If patients begin to feel they cannot trust their medicine cat it can effect how they react to suggested treatments and may lead to them not following instructions they are given.
Clear: A Medicine Cat must be able to give clear and concise instructions to a patient. Failure to clearly explain one-self can lead to instructions followed wrongly or a cat convinced they're near death when simple treatments will put them right.
